Hi Everyone
...Please can you help me? I'm just starting off and looking at mqseries for the first time, and i was wondering about local queues and aliases.
i want to practice with mq and setup a local queue called LOCAL_Q and have one small vb application putting messages and the other taking messages. can they both interact with the queue safely together, or should i use aliases or something?
Many thanks for your help! |

Well,
Using aliasQ or not is a big question, nomally don't need to use an aliasQ.
But if you have a naming convention and differnt security needs, the aliasQ might be convinient, because you can grant differnt security to the localQ and aliasQ: system administartor have acess to the localQ and the users to the aliasQ (and you can use logical names).
Alias queues is also the answer when interconnecting two firms with differnt naming conventions.....
But when starting on MQSeries it's wise to create a naming convention, and enforce it! It's pain in the B..., but later on it pays. (i know..)
There are alot of other reasons for using aliasQ and not for using it..... no war please...
