I've seen instances where some people define MQMD.ApplOriginData = 'XML', or 'BLOB', or 'MRM.

What is this ApplOriginData used for? And how?

Thanks.

Lung,

MQMD.ApplOriginData is a part of "Origin Context" information. This field along with other fields (PutApplType, PutApplName, PutDate and PutTime) define this information. This info describes the application that puts msg on the queue on which the message is currently stored.

Your application can put extra information into ApplOriginData field. This is a 4 byte character field and set to SPACES by default.

So it's an optional resource, is it? There's also something called ApplIdentityData... Optional resource also, right?

Thanks!
