Is it possible to have queue manager alias name as cluster name itself?What are the advantages of having such a queue manager alias.

Read up on qmgr alias in the intercommunications guide. Now imagine what a cluster alias would look like.

Yes, you can have qmgr alias name as the cluster name.

When there was not cluster, the qmgr alias was helpful to simulate a topology like a cluster in the hub and spoke tolology. All the qmgr used to connect to the hub and put message to any queue manager without having sdr/rcvr channel to and from each other queue manager.
