We're getting some random 2195 errors that are making life pretty miserable at the moment. Details are:

Error occurs on the put when sending from two separate HP3000 boxes.
Error occurs when sending to two different queue managers on unconnected NT boxes.
Error does not occur all the time. For example we can send the same message 10 times and it fails, on the 11th time it succeeds.
Error seems to occur more regularly when putting larger messages (2-3Mb).
Sending application experienced no errors of this type prior to last 24 hours. Code has not been changed in the last week, confirmed by executable modification dates.
Error is not reproducible when sending same messages from other boxes eg NT workstation.
Error has not been reported from other MQ applications running on the same HP3000 boxes.
Error logs report possible TCP/IP problems, contact system administrator - standard message for this kind of thing.

I can only imagine that this problem must be network related, since I can rule out all of the other possibilities I can think of ie application hasn't changed, MQ client on HP3000 must be ok because it wouldn't go ugly at the same time on two separate boxes, MQ server must be ok for the same reason as previous. But I don't understand why it wouldn't occur when sending from other boxes.

Has anyone experienced this kind of thing before. Am I missing something? Are there any possibilities other than network problems?

Unfortunately MQ isn't spitting out much useful info on this one.

What we've discovered is that if we send to a different local queue on the same queue manager, everything seems to be ok. So I took a look at the queue that we were getting errors with, and there were some rogue oprocs connected. Not sure how they could be causing the problem. Any ideas?

The next step is to reboot the server to clear up the rogue processes and try again, but we won't be able to do that for a couple of days.

It's odd.. I've also started to get 2195 errors...
In my case I get them during connect (via MQVisual Edit). The manager is located on my PC. I can connect to it using anything else (runmqscs, Explorer, my programs). Its listner and chinit are running. When I checked the logs, there was the following message:

Code:

2-08-30  12:33:45
AMQ9228: The TCP/IP responder program could not be started.

EXPLANATION:
An attempt was made to start an instance of the responder program, but the
program was rejected.
ACTION:
The failure could be because either the subsystem has not been started (in this
case you should start the subsystem), or there are too many programs waiting
(in this case you should try to start the responder program later). The  reason
code was 0.

That's a different error from the one I was getting, so I'm afraid my experiences aren't of much use to you.

For what it's worth, a bounce of the queue manager cleared everything up and our problems have gone away.
