Hi ,

I have a requirement for an application Queue on AIX to send messages to a queue on OS390. Is it possible to ZIP the messages at the sending queue and send the zipped file to the recieving queue??

Yes. I've done exactly this, although it was Solaris to OS/390. The Java application on Solaris loaded the file into memory, used the zip API to compress the file in memory, and then I made this data the content of an MQ message. Reversed the process on OS/390 - though it took me a while to find a zip API for OS/390...

There are a IBM support pack MO02 that might help you a bit it's located at on
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/txppacs/mo02.html

I'm using it and it works great for me even using MQS v. 2.1 on OS/390 (not tested by IBM).
