Migration Questions/Suggestions for WMBv6.0 to WMBv6.1

System Setup:
Two HA/Cluster AIX servers.

Broker1 and CMGR reside on AIX1
Broker 2 reside on AIX2

Issue:
I need to upgrade from WMBv6.0 to WMBv6.1 with little to no service interruption.
I would like to keep the same UNIX ids and Qmgr for the new version of WMBv6.1

Plan:
Server AIX1:
1. AIX1 – install WMBv6.1 software
2. Remove AIX1 from cluster
3. Delete WMBv6.0 Broker and CMGR
4. Configure WMBv6.1 software
5. Create new WMBv6.1 Broker and WMBv6.1 CMGR
6. Add AIX1 to cluster

Server AIX2:
7. AIX2 – install WMBv6.1 software
8. Remove AIX2 from cluster
9. Delete WMBv6.0 Broker
10. Configure WMBv6.1 software
11. Create new WMBv6.1 Broker
12. Add AIX2 to cluster

Questions/Suggestions:
1. During the migration process, we need to minimize our downtime. Has anyone else performed migration in HA/Cluster environment?
2. Can you share your road block(s)?

Hi,

you do not need to delete / create the brokers or CMGR.

There is the command mqsimigratecomponents to migrate them directly.

You have to modify the mqsi user profile and maybe the ODBC configuration files before running the command.
