i am trying to install MQ v6.0 on solaris machine.

on solaris machine, we have zone. (gloabl & non golbal zones)

1. i configured semaphore settings on global zone.

i installed on MQ 6.0 on global zone, it was not reflected non global zones.

so, after that i installed on non golbale zone, it was not installed properly.

kindly let me know, any one have idea about, installation MQ v6.0 on solaris zone.

Well it worked when I tried it. I used the instructions here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.mq.amqdac.doc/sq10265_.htm

I found this useful (and surprisingly easy to find with a tool I call Google):

http://hursleyonwmq.wordpress.com/2007/03/02/websphere-mq-with-solaris-zones/

But you do have to bear this in mind:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg21233258

Apart from that, I've no idea.

On Solaris 10, WebSphere MQ can be installed into the system’s global zone, or into a whole root non-global zone.

WebSphere MQ is accessible only from the zone you installed it in. If you install WebSphere MQ into the global zone, you cannot access it from any non-global zones configured on the system.

So Why you want to access MQ from different zone after installation?

in Solaris 10 zones are representing the virtual servers...

so if you install Mq in one zone of Solaris ..then that zone becomes an MQ servr...for which you can have unique DNS, ip... etc...

i.e. reducing number of hardware...

This is the advantage of zones of Solaris 10....

Cheers,
Aditya
