A number in that range sounds like an application error, especially if there's something like WMB in your architecture. Do you have backout queues defined? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

hi,
I don't have a backout queues defined, what would be the added value of it?
as for WMB, this is a client connecting to us i try to check if there is something of this mature in the architecture they are using abut not sure they will answer...
thanks,

What could be happening is the client rolling the message back onto the input queue for a non-WMQ reason & the threshold being exceeded. The queue manager tries to put the message onto a backout queue, can't because no queue is defined and dead letters the message as undeliverable.
Now I agree that you might expect a 2085 as a reason code in the DLH, or the message to just roll backwards & forwards as a poison message. But I have seen something like this happen, and for how much it costs to test (one queue definition) it's worth a spin.

If they're reading off the queue with a client connection, that rules out WMB unless they're doing something seriously odd. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
