Hello
I am new to message broker. From start, I thought it was possible to create configuration manager and broker on one machine and connect a toolkit installed on another machine to it.
Now that I have been trying to do so, I can not find any reference material to do exactly this.
Can this really be done? |

It's the typical configuration. Indeed, the broker tends to be on a different machine to the config manager.

The WMB InfoCenter's a good place to start. Mind you, the process is fairly intutive given how you connect to a config manager running locally (which I assume you've done successfully as you've posted an ESQL question). _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

The Redbooks tend to be more suitable for step by step guides.
No need for separate config manager platform these days, but it depends on whether you want to control many brokers with one config manager. |

Yes, I have been doing everything on single machine till now.
But now I need only the toolkit(s) to be on separate machine that can connect to a central config manager and broker |

As I said, this is the most typical way of working. It's very seldom you'd have a toolkit on the CM's machine, as they tend to be inconvieniently located. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Look at the manuals and infocenter on how to connect the toolkit to the config mgr and the additionnal entries you need in the acl table. (mqsicreateaclentry....) _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Obviously only an example; you may not want db2admin being in use in this context. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I had already found that page and Info Centers but the procedure doesn't work!!!
I read M-Q (??? we can't put these two letters together ???) help as well which explains how to connect to remote queue or client server queue but still nothing!
Either I couldn't understand the manuals (which I seriously doubt; but may be...) or the manuals don't speak of all things that we need to do! |

Doesn't work how? Just sits and stares at you? Flying monkeys steal your keyboard? Giant chickens attack once you complete the procedure? Or my personal suspicion - you get an error message and/or code? Which you're disinclined to share?

So again you've tried to establish this connection, and which of the above outcomes did you experience?

Well the manuals certainly detail all the steps.....
But without something a bit more substansive than "it doesn't work" and "still nothing" we're unlikely to be of more help.
At a wild guess, given the lack of information and your insistance you've followed the documented procedures, I'd say you've got a 2059 error in the connection; this often occurs even when the configuration is correct. I'd try and prove that, and if so you'll find a wealth of discussion on the forum about it's many and varied causes. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
