If I only want MQ Client, are there any problems or disadvantages to installing the MQ Client from the server install base rather then the downloaded client install base?

AFAIK it's the same code. I've done both & not observed a difference.

For MQ Client and MQ Server to co-exist (possibly you may need it in the future), the MQ Client must be from the full MQ install and not just the MQ Client download.

True.

I was reading the part about XA support though and it seemed specific to server side to support Client XA. I'm not using that feature at the moment.

We use the server build because it is handy.

Just double checking...
