Please note: This is a PERMANENT position.
POSITION PURPOSE
To be responsible for the architecture, development, deployment and maintenance of Middleware Services within the Messaging Engineering Group.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for WebSphere services run by SITA
• Responsible for ensuring maximum availability of the services to our customer base.
• Provide Pre & Post sales support to ALL SITA departments.
• Provide QA testing and acceptance of products (hardware and software).
• Provide support for configuration and management of the service (hardware and software).
• Provide installation support and configuration of WebSphere products.
• Provide support to Operation staff in identifying hardware problems.
• Provide support to Operation staff in identifying software problems.
• Provide 3rd level support to operations groups.
• Re-create problems, and attempt to correct them via system and application provided tools.
• Document and report problems to all involved support staff and 3rd parties
• Provide 24 hours on-call support to Operation staff.
• Provide training to other team members and all Operation groups.
• Provide problem tracking and management services using networked base tracking solutions.
• Provide assistance & guidance in tuning of Application, System and Network components.
• Provide Hardware / Software / Application documentation to Operations and other parties.
• Design, develop and maintain software programs and scripts when and where required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• 5 plus years supporting WebSphere products, specifically, WebSphere MQ, including MQIPT and WebSphere Message Broker, including topology design, security aspects and configuration
• Knowledge of WebSphere Transformation Extender, WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Partner Gateway is a plus
• In-depth knowledge of Tivoli OMEGAMON
• Knowledge of IBM ESB architecture is desired.
• Strong understanding of Mail protocols like SMTP, X400, TYPEB is required.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and X25 (is a plus) communication protocols
• Shell Script programming in UNIX/LINUX environment is a must.
• Confident in JAVA or other programming languages
• Practical knowledge of SubVersion or other Source Control packages
• Must be able to use UNIX/LINUX development tools (e.g. grep, find, cc, tar, awk etc.).
• Must be familiar with UNIX/LINUX operating systems (e.g. AIX and RedHat LINUX).
• Good written and oral communications skills is required.
• Strong organization and good interpersonal and team working skills is required.
• Must be a fast learner and willing to take training courses where necessary
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to finish tasks with minimum supervision.
• Some traveling is involved.
• Will require 24 hours on call duties and carrying pagers, cell phone or like devices, work on or be on-call during official holidays.
Must be a US citizen, please.
