One of our servers has Solaris version 8. We installed Websphere MQ 6.0 in it. We installed the required system patches. But We could not able to install 6.0.2.5 in it because it's showing up a warning message that
The /var filesystem has 83372 free blocks. The current installation requires 509560 blocks, which includes a required 150 block buffer for open deleted files. 426188 more blocks are needed.
We can't extend /var file system size on this server. We need an alternate solution to install MQ fixpack 6.0.2.5 without extending the /var file system.
When i use pkgadd command it's storing temporary files in /var file system. so we created /var/sadm/pkg/mqm filesystem with required size. Still its showing the same warning message.
When we open a pmr ticket with IBM they suggested us to contact SUN people. Could you please provide a solution to this issue.
Thank you |

I dont know what you expect, you obvisouly need space.... can you compress some parts of the filesystem? Will it ever be big enough to perform the install?
I had a similar issue when I went to buy my Ferrari..... I had £3000, but needed £247,000 more.... they just wouldnt let me have it. |

I encountered something similar when we bought our 3rd car; only to return home to discover that we had a two-car garage. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

/var file system is needed to store some temporary files while doing installation.
using pkgtrans I translated the package in to scripts. Just to know whether i can redirect or not. Actually I would like to know is there any way to direct temporary files to other file system.
Thank you. |
