I have been told that
WAS 5 has a "standard" MQ Client
whilst
WAS 6 does have "own" MQ Client impelented (or similar).

Can someone point me to a doc where such differences are detailed ?

What I need to know, in fact,
is if the new (version 6) WAS client access implementation
does end up in "standard" MQ API,
and more precisely
if it allows me to use Client Channel Definition Table features for Failover.

Thanks.

In WAS 5 you had to define the location of the MQ libraries in your CLASSPATH (WAS variable setup).

WAS 6 has the necessary libraries as part of the WAS distribution. WAS 6 has MQ V6 libraries and as such you will be able to use a CCDT. You will have to remember when you define your Connection Factory not to fill in a number of fields but be sure to fill in the CCDT Url as "file://host/path to ccdt/ccdtfilename"

Also check out the WAS infocenter. But you will find very little on the setup with CCDT in the infocenter IIRC. See one of the earlier chains in search. (I know I had a post in it).

And remember that a QCF based on a CCDT is not suitable for an MDB.

Enjoy

So, I understand WAS 5 needed MQ client installed,
and then to provide the envir variable pointing to it.
OK.

Now, WAS 6 (and 7 I supose) does not need that. Fine.
It has MQ v6 inside. Perfect.

CCDT url : yes, it is a "Custom Property" located in a strange
upper righ corner menu that it is easy not-to-see
I shall be testing this in development environment next week
or within 15 days.

WAS Infocenter : I have got lost few times there, looking for CCDT help,
and it is very pooly documented, you can bet, and even worse organized.

Yes, I have read you sentence
"You CANNOT use the CCDT for the MDBs"
to mr "vivica12" - I read lots of MQSERIES.NET postings too ... jejeje

I have own opinion on that item, and shall open a discussion ... a bit later.
