Hey guys.

OS=Win
MQ=6.0.0.3

Got clients connecting via explorer or MQMon (m071 s.p.) and connections are being reset, exactly every 10 mins.

Got the Hearbit set to 300.

Error code is:
AMQ9208

TCP/IP Ret. code - 10054(X'2746'). What could be the cause of that?

10x in advance.

Ofcourse i know what it means. It doesn't help me much. I need a method of doing root-cause analysis.

Any one ever encountered an MQClient, connected only for use of MQExplorer, got this RC?

The point I was making was, as this happens exactly every 10 minutes, you should concentrate less on WMQ Client/MQExplorer and more on the infrastructure, e.g. server settings and/or firewall.

Yeah well, my thoughts exactly.

However, timing is perfect.

It's not aprox. 10 mins. It's exactly 10 mins.

So - as a first step i'll try and connect from within the segment itself and/or localhost.

The second step, should the first one fail, will be to swap the network card.

But - what can possibly send a TCP REST every 10 mins exactly?

Speak with your network guys as they may probably give you an answer almost immediately. If you have a dodgy NIC I would expect the resets to be intermittent rather than perfectly spaced in time.

It's so wierd... they have no firewall between the client and the server.

Any chance it's a router's problem?

The NIC is probarlly fine, as you said already.
Anything regarding MQ can cause it? HBIT or anything like that?

Again, ask your network guys! Ask your server Sys Admins; are they doing anything squirrely on the servers?

Also, have you considered reviewing all of the bugs that are fixed between version 6.0.0.3 of MQ and the most recent 6.0.2.6 version?

Or simply updating to the current v7 release?

Hey.

I was wrong, the MQServer ver. is 6.0.1.0

I can't (client policy) upgrade the mqver right now.... It's a machine-swap procedure, which means that we re-install everything exactly the same on a new machine and make it PROD.

Phase 2 (a month from now) would be to upgrade versions.

However, i encountered something interesting.

Another client joined the fiesco. Meaning, another MQExplorer pc disconnects exactly every 10 mins. Not only that, but after the first time the second machine has disconnected, it started to disconnect in sync with the first machine. That is - every 10 mins exactly, on the exact same second - for both machines (both on the 57th second).
And - both machines come from the same segment which is not the server's segment.

Okay, un update.

I installed a wireshark on the client's machine as well.
Started the MQEXplorer, defined autoreconnect.

Every 2 mins (on the second) i can actuall see the RST packet the disconnects the client.

It's always:

Server->Client: INQUIRE_CLUSTER_Q_MGR
Client->Server: Ack
Server->Client: RST, ACK

Another thing that happens: on the client's side, lots and lots of packets have bad checksum, TCP wise...

Any furthur ideas on how to continue?

Okay fellows - problem is solved.

As os is Win2003R2, there is parameter reegarding TCP stacks...

It was enabled, but with that specific NIC, should have been disabled.

Params to change are:

EnableTCPChimney (was 1. After change: 0)
EnableRSS (was 1. After change: 0)
EnableTCPA (was 1. After change: 0)

Then - a reboot.

Works great, no errors.

Problematic NIC was
Hewlett-Packard NC373i Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter

and could also be
Broadcom NetXtreme II

So - Microsoft's post:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942861/en-us

For future use...

Thanks alot for your help.

Eli.
