We're running MQ 6.0.2.5 on Solaris.
An application group has approached us with a project to connect one of our Queue Managers on our intranet to an outside firm using VPN over the internet. (They do not have a dedicated line for cost reasons).
I do not have anymore info at this time but I was curious if this is something that could be done out of the box or with MQIPT?
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.
A properly configured VPN is transparent to the applications using it. |

We have QM to QM connections over VPN. No problems.
