Firstly you should make sure that the DB2 Database Manager is running. Obviously if it is not running you won't be able to create a DB.
Then I'd use the DB2 Control centre to create your database.
Once that is done, I'd use the ODBC admin panel to add the DSN
Then I would be ready to create the database.
Why?
Over the years, I have developed a set of parameters that work on DB2 when using broker. These are all in a set of easily editable scripts.
The simple steps shown in the URL you provided are fine but I really prefer to create the DB2 database myself but for simple dev purposes, creating a DB using the DB2 Control centre works fine. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

i think you need to some DB2 101 training
From a command window, NO DB2 commands are valid apart from....
db2cmd
This will spawn a new command window with all the DB2 commands valid
Also, if you run the DB2 Control Centre (via Start-Programs->) you will soon see if the DBM is running or not.
It is a lot easier to create a Database (for beginners anyway) via the control centre than from the command line unless you just use all the defaults. _________________ WMQ User since 1999
