Is there an API that can be used to retrieve the current status of an MQ channel on the AS400. The WRKMQMCHST can not be used withing a program.

I need to check every 10 minutes if a channel has gone down and send an alert message.

Even if I can do it in JAVA that would be great. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You could write a small program that send a PCF command to the queue Manager, and the interpret the ansver.

There have been a couple of examples in our discustions here, try seek on java and PCF.

Here is one that might suit you:

How about a event driven method, you can develop an app to read (or get support pac) the system.channel.event queue and that will tell you when channels have stopped
