We are looking to design a new application environment in WAS 7.0 and that is going to be using WAS clustering.
We want to remove any single point of failure but the applications are going to use MQ. The obvious approach would be to have two MQ queue managers, each on a different but identical server. So far this seems fine.
Now they want their client apps to be able to connect to any available queue manager from within the WAS application cluster and they don't want to use JMS.
My questions are:
Is this design practical/possible?
How do the applications decide which are the candidate queue managers?
and finally what are the implications for failover other than losing in-flight connections?
Any advice is welcome as WAS is a total mystery to me. |

Force them to use JMS and use a client channel table (set url) on qcf/tcf .
In V7 there is not good reason not to use JMS if you are in a J2EE environment (WAS). Enjoy _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
