Hi,

We have in our test environment an MQ Server (QMGRA) that is pointing to a Network Dispatcher, this in turn points to one of three proxy servers running MQ Internet Pass-Through (MQIPT) which in-turn forwards onto another MQ Server (QMGRB). The communication the other way is identical.

The problem we're having is this; we'll start the Sender channel on QMGRA, this SDR channel has a DISCINT of 1 hour and a HBINT of 5 minutes. We don't send any messages through this channel, just monitor it. After between (typically) 5 minutes and 30 minutes (the actual time is always devisable exactly by the HBINT, i.e. after 5,10,15 etc. minutes) the sender channel closes with a communication error (AMQ9209):

26/01/2009 14:44:13 - Process(8420.1) User(mqm) Program(runmqchl_nd)
AMQ9209: Connection to host 'mq-proxy (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn)' closed.

EXPLANATION:
An error occurred receiving data from 'mq-proxy (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn)' over TCP/IP.
The connection to the remote host has unexpectedly terminated.
ACTION:
Tell the systems administrator.

So, my question is - why would the HeartBeat cause the above communication problem? It's feasable (and quite likely) the heartbeat would go out via one MQIPT and come back via another, could this cause an issue? With full logging on MQIPT there is still a lack of errors that help us diagnose what exactly the problem is, hoping someone here who has used ND and MQIPT together may be able to shed some light on this..

We're using MQ6 on Sun Solaris, with MQIPT 1.3

What ever made you think that, even with MQIPT, you could put a network dispatcher between an MQ server and receiver channel pair?

You can't do this.

You can only put network load balancers between MQ client connection and server connection channel pairs.

What are you actually trying to do with this combination of parts, and why have you eliminated the standard, supportable, MQ Load Balancing technique of WMQ Clustering?
