Hi.
When I try this on my QManager named MYQMGR:
endmqm -i MYQMGR
It may a very very long time to shut down.
Here are my processes :
mqm 24381 1 0 Jan 11 ? 21:09 runmqlsr -t TCP -p 17511 -m SAR
mqm 25033 24381 0 Jan 11 ? 164:54 /opt/mqm/bin/amqrmppa -m SAR
mqm 24234 1 0 Jan 11 ? 0:30 /opt/mqm/bin/amqzmgr0 -m SAR
mqm 5745 5707 0 18:56:10 pts/2 0:00 endmqm -i SAR
I MUST kill the amqrmppa process in order to stop my QManager. Why?

What platform? What version of WMQ? Patched to what level?
What is the queue manager used for? Does it participate in a cluster?

We had this problem on MQ 6.0 on Red Hat Linix, up until we applied MQ 6.0.2.5. Its much better now. Even at 6.0.2.1 it took forever for amqrmppa to end, sometimes 10-15 minutes.

Here is my configuration :
bash-2.03$ dspmqver
Name: WebSphere MQ
Version: 6.0.0.0
CMVC level: p000-L050519
BuildType: IKAP - (Production)
-> On a SunOS (Solaris) plateform.
According to PeterPotkay, I suppose that if I upgrade to 6.0.2.5, it will be fine. Isn't it? |

You should upgrade to MQ 6.0.2.5. I can't guarantee it will fix your problem, but so many things have been fixed from 6.0.0.0 to 6.0.2.5 you really should upgrade. The software you are running on is at least a couple of years old. And its the G/A release, bound to be at least a litttle bit buggy. A lot of shops won't install the x.0.0.0 version of any software until a few Fix Packs have come out. Let the other guys find the problems with the new software!
