Can anyone advise the overhead of running an additional queue manager on AIX (MQ V6) as compared to expanding an existing one?
Assuming that it is not particularly busy (100 k small messages per day), has a couple of sender/receiver channels (one pair with SSL), a handful of queues and no client connections.
I assume the main effect of this would be extra memory used - any idea how much? |

Well, other then the extra RAM used by a second set of processes and additional disk space used by the Primary, Secondary and Error logs, I would think not much.
The question would by why do you want two QMGRs on the same machine?
To split the cluster Full Repositories to isolated QMGRs to allow the others to do refreshes without impacting a FR?
To separate two applications such that one QMGR can be brought down without impacting the other application? Also provides the ability to more easily move this QMGR to another resource later.
To simulate a much more complex environment with less equipment (say in a development environment)? |

Good tries, but (a) I would like to know how much extra RAM and (b) the reason is do with security isolation for an external connection. |
