Hi,

Today I was working in a Windows MQ installation with a queue manager running since 5/12/2006 , 708 days! MQ version is 6.0.0.0
It acts almost as a gateway , few queues , but a rate of 300 npm msgs/sec for each one.

It should have been taken down somewhere in that 780 days to have fixpacks applied to it.

You should be running at 6.0.2.4 and not 6.0.0.0, even on a gateway queue manager.

Just because it's not broke, doesn't mean you shouldn't fixPac it.

As bad as that is, the fact that a Windows server went that long without MSFT security patches worries me more.

You are both right, but apart from technical and recommended procedures I found it like a record, or like an alien system. This system belongs to a bank, using MQ in zOS, As they don't have CAF they send messages to this system to be consumed by MQ clients. I can add this is not a critical system for their business, messages are used to build performance graphics

That is the longest I've seen a Windows QM up and running. Do you think it will make it to 1,000 days?
