According to the manual:
Quote: |
A level 4 coupling facility (CFLEVEL=4) provides dynamic coupling facility dispatching. Additionally, a level 4 coupling facility provides the following enhancements:
Support for VM/ESA guest coupling simulation
Alter and dumping support for structures containing event monitor controls (EMCs)
IXLCACHE support enhancements:
Support for cache write with no data
New request type for optimized unlock of single castout lock (UNLOCK_CO_NAME)
Lock table cleanup performance enhancements |
But it does not specify that CFLEVEL(4) Stucture can hold up to a 100MB message. How about other CFLEVEL?. |

According to what manual?
The coupling facility stores structures. WMQ has no code that directs messages to/from the CF. This task is performed by the DB2 shared data facility.
Messages less than 63KB continue to be stored completely within the CF structure. For messages >63k, only a message reference is held in the CF. The message data is stored in DB2 BLOBs.
Minimum CF level is specified in the WMQ Concepts and Planning manual. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

From the WMQ z/OS Concepts and Planning manual:
CF structures have a CFLEVEL attribute that determines their functional capability:
v 1, 2 - can be used for nonpersistent messages less than 63KB
v 3 - can be used for persistent and nonpersistent messages less than 63KB
v 4 - can be used for persistent and nonpersistent messages up to 100MB _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Allow me to correct myself on where/how messages are held in the CF. This is from the WMQ z/OS Concepts and Planning Guide.
Quote: |
Shared queue messages of size less than or equal to 63KB are held entirely in the CF list structure defined for that queue.
Shared queue messages of size greater than 63KB have their message data held as one or more binary large objects (BLOBs) in a DB2 table which is shared by a DB2 data sharing group. |
BLOBs are held in tablespaces, which are held in CF cache structures along with shared DB2 data tables. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
