Hi!
I am totally new to MQ but really like the product. At the moment I work with the 90-day-trial version which will expire in the near future. Is there a special license for developers? I don't need a full blown license because I use it only for development purposes.
Regards

Ask your IBM rep, who is the only authoritive source of licensing information. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hi,
Presumably you are developing with MQ for some purpose i.e. for a company that does have a valid licence. I seem to recall that each processor unit allows for a certain number of installs for restricted development purposes.
You would have to find the terms & conditions for the version you are using on the IBM site to check. Not that easy apparently... as I can't find them right now.
Cheers,

If you use client connections(server connection channels) you will only need the libraries on the clients which are free, conecting to the server (with the license-not free). |

Thanks for the replies.
No, it is not enough to have onyl the client installed, I need the server also. I develop a component that is working with a remote MQ server to which I have no access. So I have to install a server here on my system (in a virtual machine) and test everything, then switch the component to work with the remote MQ server. |

Then ask whoever administers that server what the licensing deal is. Or who their IBM rep is. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

The license for a single instance of MQ for a single processor (even if it counts as a multi-core processor and therefore requires more than one processor value unit license) may actually be much less expensive than you think it is...
Look into the "Passport Advantage Express" program. |
