Hi everyone,
Purchased a new badboy laptop with all the horsepower you can currently get in a laptop. It came pre-installed with Vista Home premium 64-bit.
The processor is P8600 core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and 4GB DDR2 of memory.

I have successfully installed MQ 6.0 and DB2 Express-C 9.5 64-bit by running them in Win2000 compatibility mode. Broker Toolkit 6.1.0.2 also installed fine when run in compatibility mode. I have verified my installations by creating/deleting QMGrs, queues, putting and getting messages, create/delete DBs tables and all sorts of fun crap. Nice and smooth so far.
Now I installed the broker runtime 6.1 and fixpack 1 and the installation went thru fine and it does show in the Add/Remove programs. However when I go to the Welcome Screen->Get Started page to create a default configuration, I get a pop-up message saying that the feature has been disabled since broker is not installed on the machine. I'm bummed by this. Even if I open the broker installation launchpad, it reports that broker has not been installed and is shown as required. Same is the case with ODBC drivers for Apache Derby. I've learnt thru IBM's site that starting with version 9.1, the DB2 runtime client is now called IBM Data Server Client. I've installed that as well but still shows as Required in the launch pad.

Has anybody successfully got the broker runtime and the ODBC drivers to successfully install on vista.

Does anyone know what IBM's stand on the broker product availability for the Vista platform is? Please share your thoughts.

Cheers

I understand a Vista license allows you to temporarily downgrade to XP. That's what I would do.

When I got my recent Dell laptop (Vostro 1710) I went for the option of XP with Vista on DVD.

You might try using Virtual Box, then install broker under XP or Linux.

Hi we have announced that Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Server 2008 will be supported in Message Broker 6.1.0.3 (which is not yet released).

Previous versions will NOT work and it is not worth even trying

Running other WMB versions in a Virtual Machine running Linux or XP would of course work fine.

Regards,
