To install a trial version of websphere message broker, do I also need to install the DB2 database?. Is there a trial version of DB2?. |

I would have thought that the broker trial would have come with DB2 (and also WMQ). Did it not? |

Well, I've never heard of a trial version of IBM WebSphere Message Broker any version.
There is a limited version that costs less...
On a Windows developers workstation, you could opt for the Derby database instead of the full blown DB2.
Everywhere else, it needs a full blown database of any one that is supported.
The only reason I can think of (right now) not to use the full featured database is to conserve resources. |

How would you use MB without the toolkit?
It's a complete product trial.
I think you can use the Derby database with WMB 6.1 to avoid the need for DB/2. |

Well, when you install WMB with the launch pad, it will ask about the other products and one option is ODBC Drivers for Cloudscape and it will install the Derby database (I think). Note that this is only a Windows workstation option. Of course, I'm looking at the full download so I have no idea what you get.
With WMQ trial, the QMGRs will expire and stop working but I think MQ Explorer will rock on...
I wonder if that is true about WMB Toolkit in the trial version...
At version 5.1 of the Toolkit, you could download it from the support web site unchallenged... |
