I am using AMSGET to browse messages on AIX, and getting a 2080 error for message truncation.
Any ideas how I can still use this sample program without getting that error to browse the existing messages?
The Version of MQ is 6.0.2.2 |

Yes - change the code to a) have a buffer large enough to take the message or b) change the code to accept truncated messages.
It's only a sample - you can do what you want with it. 
You might also consider some of the support pacs which provide more sophisticated message handling, but are equally free of cost. Or a commercial product.

| And you should consider applying maintenance. You are at 6.0.2.2 and current is 6.0.2.5. Add yourself to the notifications when fixes get released. |

You can also use the sample program amqsgbr instead which only browses the messages but accepts truncated messages.
Notice that it will only show the first 50 chars of the buffer.

To be more precise, WMQ is returning a 2080 Reason Code to your application program.
Your application may see a Reason Code as an error, or it may not.
Reason Codes are documented in the WMQ Messages manual.
