Has anyone tried, or used channels between MQSeriex v2.2 and WMQ v6?
I have a platform that can't be upgraded past MQv2, but I would like to upgrade the other queue manager to v6,
Alternately can anyone point me to documentation that shows it does not or should not work?
Obviously if I can test it and it works, the V2.2 QMgr will still not be supported and if the channel fails, I would be out of luck. I just want to determine if there's any chance it would work, so at least half of the environment will be supported.

MQV2.2? On a Windows or Unix platform? Gosh! I'm getting flashbacks to a time when I had hair......
I would have thought there's a sporting chance it would work; the MCAs should be mostly compatible. Having said that, it would not be the biggest surprise of my life if it didn't, or if it was a bit unstable.
I'd also be interested to know the business case that prevents upgrade here. Given the risk of running such an old version it can't be a critical sysytem and hence the upgrade should be straightforward. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

The platform is OpenVMS VAX. Unless you can recompile from source onto either an alpha or Itanium processor, then you're stuck.
In this case the source is gone, so it's either live with the current executable for re-create from scratch. |

I would be surprised and a tiny bit dissapointed if it didn't work, given that MQ in general works fine across different versions. Although I have no specific documentation to point you at that says this big a gap between version should work. _________________ Peter Potkay

Have you tried it? What was the result? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Ah, another case of "we have higher priorities than evaluating source code control methodologies" _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
