Will i the queue manager put a trigger message in the initiation queue even if the message that is present in the actual queue is uncommitted. I found a strange behaviour whenever i start my application which polls on the initiation queue for trigger messages when there are already uncommitted messages in the queue the queuemanager puts a trigger message, but if i start my polling application and then put an uncommitted mesages in the actual queue then the queumanger doesnt put a trigger message.

There are a series of conditions that must be met for an initiation message to be sent. They're documented, and include more things than simply messages being on a queue.

I'm also interested to know why your application is polling the init queue rather than you using the supplied monitor? It's not wrong, but it does seem to be reinventing the wheel.

The QM places a trigger message in the Initiation queue when all the trigger conditions have been met.

The QM doesn't commit the trigger message to the Initiation queue until the message that caused the trigger condiftion to be true is itself commited, or rolled back.

When a trigger message is produced by the QM and when a trigger message is consumed by the trigger monitor is not the same thing, although 99.9999% of the time they happen one after another so quickly it looks like one action.

There is a whole chapter on triggering in the MQ Application Programing Guide.

Especially entertaining is the section "when triggers don't work."
