Hi All,

I have a requirement to upgrade the MQ from 5.3 to 6 with fix pack 6.0.2.2. MQ server is hosted in AIX as well as SuSe Linux operating systems.

I have got some documents on MQ upgrade on Sun Solaris which says I need to change OS semaphore values and restart the server before doing the upgrade.
Below are the semaphore values which has to be modified on Solaris.

set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semaem=16384
set semsys:seminfo_semvmx=32767
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=16384
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100
set semsys:seminfo_semopm=100
set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=16384
set semsys:seminfo_semume=256
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=1024
set rlim_fd_cur=10000
set rlim_fd_max=10000

My question is that whether this is required to change if Os is Linux or AIX? If it is, how to change it in AIX/Linux?

kernel settings on OS, better take help from system administrators thats the best safer option.
