Hi All,

I have installed Websphere Message Broker and DB2. First thing I am attempting is to create a default configuration. However it gets to a certain stage and fails when trying to create the database. It is unable to create a database. However I created a database with the same username and password as that for Message Broker and the same username and password as I start the conf wizard with.

Is there a way that I can specify the database source? Can I tell Websphere to use ODBC connection instead?

The log output is as follows:

If you have installed DB2.. check the following

1. Check if the DB2 is running
2. Try to create DB from the DB2 command window / DB2 Control center.

what about WebSphere MQ ?! Have you installed it ?

Hi Ranganathan,

Yes, DB2 is certainly running as I can access them through WinSQL client (which is an ODBC based SQL Editor). The task manager also tells me that it is running. I was also successful at creating database and table. So yes DB2 is running.

I am not sure that I have MQ Broker running, I am not sure how to test. I thought that this was the reason for going through the "create a default configuration" wizard, so as to set up a MQ Broker connection? Is this correct? A tutorial told me that I has to do this first? And it is this wizard that keeps telling me that "No supported database product found.".

Thanks,
Damien

In Addition, I should also mention that I am able to create a database definition via File->New->Database Definition! And it works! So why can I create a connection to the database via one wizard, but not be found in another wizard for the same application (Create the Default Configuration)?

Damien,
I dont understand what exactly you mean by MQBroker ?! Did you mean the connectivity between MQ and MB ?!
Just to highlight.. WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Message Broker (WBIMB) are different products. Message Broker uses MQ as a mode of transport. The default configuration of Message Broker will work, only if you install all the following...

1. WebSphere Message Broker
2. Any Supported Database product (ex: DB2)
3. WebSphere MQ

Have you installed all of the above ?! As you said DB2 is installed in your machine.. has your database user been added in the 'mqbrkrs' group ?

Hope this helps..
