one broker instance if required for mqiservice <BRKRQMGR> and also the details with -v version are more in context with knowing the mqsi version number

so i always go for mqsiservice -v for knowing the version details and mqiservice <BRKRQMGR> for knowing installation / work path etc...

Hi guys,

we have Message broker 5 with csd level 7 in our production. Not yet migrated to v6. we have oracle 9i and wants to upgrade to 10 G. Is the same compatable with the broker 5 or the broker need to be migrated to v6.

we also tried to upgrade the present Aix verson 5.2 ML 4 to 5.2 ML 10. but the db2(broker database) could not be started due to jvm error. The db2 has its own java and it is pointing to db2java.zip in the sqllib

DB21085I Instance "" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08015"
with level identifier "02060106".
Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.1.48", "s040212", "U496793", and
FixPak "5".

I am also planning to broker upgrade to 6/6.1 with db2 8.2,oracle 10G,aix 5.3. Ibm recommended many step by step upgradation. can anybody suggest the best migration so that there is no impact. Is it better to install create on new mechines and later change them to production. if we face any problem on the existing mechine the whole e-channels running under broker are impacted.

Pl advice.

Regards

Hi,

also consider upgrading DB2 8 to 9 or 9.5
=>
http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca&infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS907-125

By the way the latest fixpack available for DB2 is 16 maybe this helps with your AIX problem.

Have you read the available redbooks about migration ?

Greetings
Frank
