maybe it's because my first PC had only two 256Kb Floppy drives... but

regularly I am appalled by the size of the eclipse directories going 1, 2, 3, 4 and up GB's...

when looking closer, I see multiple files with the same size and just a new version suffix (maybe 1 typo fixed...)

what is the best way to 'upgrade' the Eclipse part and only have the latest versions of each jar file???

or is this simply the way it works???

Plus of course the 16 different instances of the Java Run-time (over and above the one that I actually chose to install)

I don't have multiple versions of anything installed atm, I tend to get a download from eclipse.org then just live with that version, I rarely find I have to upgrade to fix a bug, so I don't bother

I think that if you go to Help -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuration

This will show a list of all installed features.

Click the icon with the red "no entry" sign on it, that will then show you all the old versions of plug-ins that are disabled.

If an old version is uninstallable (e.g. no longer being used by the eclipse platform), then you can right click on it then click on uninstall.

However I just tried it and it didn't work for me on eclipse 3.3
