Hi, there,

Here is another strange problem of using wmqi2.1+CSD2 on Solaris 8.

On our Solaris env., we have two brokers, QM_TIBMQS and QM_TIBMQS2. Sometimes when we try to bring the broker QM_TIBMQS down by the command mqsistop -i QM_TIBMQS. The command is OK but what is brought down is not QM_TIBMQS but QM_TIBMQS2. Sometimes we want to stop QM_TIBMQS2 but QM_TIBMQS is brought down. The worst case was the two brokers brought down by one command. It's totally mad since it's completely out of control somehow.

Any suggestion or advise is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Yanghui,

I have seen this exact scenario using Solaris 2.7 and MQSI 2.0.1. I was unable to get to the root of the cause but was able to get around it by making the names of the brokers start with a different spelling. Before deciding to change the names of the brokers, I also found that if I addressed the longer of the similarly named brokers first, I was able to get predictable results.

Regards,
Phil

How about naming the two brokers completely different like SALT and PEPPER? Perhaps if the names were more dissimilar it will work correctly? Let us know if it works if you try it, OK?

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks a lot for you both quick reply.

It seems it's not easy to change QM names (so many application are using them) but we can change our brokers to use different names from QM.

Hope IBM will fix this in the next release.
