This attribute HBINT as displayed on my sender channel is HBINT(30). Does it mean that every 30 seconds a heartbeat message will be sent to the receiver channel to determent if it is available?. Now if the receiver is not available, how do I check the availability in the context of HBINT? Do I receive a heartbeat acknowledgement message telling me the problem?. |

Yes. A failed heartbeat write will reflect as a change in status on the channel, RUNNING -> RETRY. _________________ Glenn |

So basically I just do the DISPLAY CHS(<channel name>) and see the channel status. |

set it to the value you need. it is there to be set and adjusted if you need it, or to switch it off if you dont need it.
my rule of thumb: the more important the application or the connection is, the less the heartbeat (because you detect errors earlier).
keep in mind that it is negotiated between sending and receiving end, so changing just one end may not change the negotiated heartbeat. _________________ Regards, Butcher |
