Howdy,
It seems V7 has come out a few weeks back (anyone try it out yet?), so naturally the question of v6 lifecycle comes up; any info on the EOS date for v6?
(Found this on the IBM website - http://tinyurl.com/5f4a6a but no EOS date is specified.)
Specifically, i'm talking about z/OS, iSeries, Solaris and Windows XP.
Cheers,

Think everyone will stop using IBM MQ if they remove support and change versions at will.. _________________ *forgetting everything * |

I don't think so, it hasn't happened so far. This is business as usual to mainframe folks. |

WMQ 5.3 went EOS in Sept 2007.
WMQ 5.3 was released in Nov 2002 Approx 5 years
WMQ 6.0 was released in Jun-2005
Therefore using some simple guestimates, I'd say Summer 2010 for 6.0 EOS.

Great, thanks for all the replies!
I have talked to my IBM contact about this, but he wasn't able to give me a precise answer. If I find anything out, i'll post it here. |

IBM announces EOS dates for products in April & September. Support will extend for at least 1 year beyond the EOS announcement date. Imagine if IBM announces the EOS for MQ V6.0 in September 2008, then the EOS date will be no sooner than September 2009. _________________ Glenn |

WebSphere MQ V6.0 is on an enhanced policy. This means it will be supported for a minimum of 5 years after its becomes available and you will have 12 months notice of EOS. You can purchase an extra 3 years support for it if necessary. This is known as a "5+3" policy which is different to the standard "3+2" policy.
See http://www-306.ibm.com/software/support/lifecycle/lc-policy.html for details on the standard/enhanced policies.
The lifecycle for products is available at http://www-306.ibm.com/software/websphere/support/lifecycle/
The FAQ can be found at http://www-306.ibm.com/software/support/lifecycle/faq.html _________________ Regards

Thanks for the extra info!
