Is channels stanza really ignored in MQ 6.0?

The MQ 6.0 info center says that the channels stanza is ignored, but then goes on to say that MaxActiveChannels will be set to whatever MaxChannels is set to. This is contradictory documentation. I posted this question earlier and got one response indicating that error messages are being received if #of channels attempts to exceed the MaxChannels setting in the channels stanza.
Is the channels stanza really obsolete and really ignored?

So it looks like on iSeries its ignored and on Unix and Windows its not.

Or the Info Center is wrong in one of those links.
