I have successfully setup a WF Web Client using WebSphere 4.0 and WF 3.3.2 when they are all on the same AIX box.
Now I am working with separate WebSphere and Workflow AIX servers and need to setup the Web Client.
I installed the Web Client from the WebSphere box and I can get as far as
logging in to the Web Client but it eventually times out. I am using valid
userIDs and passwords.
Is it something to do with "communication" from the WAS box to the WF box? The WebSphere Admin Server is running and I can see the App Server running.
WebSphere logs indicate no error since it is timing out. If someone has any documentation or knowledge on how to do this on physically separate boxes it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Ok, I think I can help you..
First I need to know a few more details.
Q 1.) How did you setup the connection to the workflow server? Did you copy the MQWFCHL.TAB to the WAS box and use that when you configured the web client.
We use a client concentrator to provide a connection to the workflow server. I would highly recommend this configuration due to the MQSeries server side bindings provided with the client concentrator configuration. Now you can get this to work without using a client concentrator setup and maybe that would be good for you to do right now, however, keep in mind that a client concentrator would be the recommended way.
Q 2.) Check the Webclient.properties and verify that your using local_bindings and that you have the correct configuration identified.
More than likely you are having a TAB file problem, resulting in the timeout error because you can't connect to the queue manager on the AIX server. I would copy the tab file down from the AIX server again and then give it a try. Remember to use the -b option to transfer in binary when using FTP to transfer the MQWFCHL.TAB file. If you don't then the MQWFCHL.TAB file may not work properly.
One last thing.. Make sure the workflow server is up and running properly. I always create a thick client connection and verify that I can connect with that before I dig into anything on the WAS box.
Good Luck

Dave,
Sounds like you are correct. I did not copy the TAB file over from the Workflow box and use it for the Web Client install on the WAS box. Now,
1) can I just copy it over and redo the Web Client configuration this time referencing the .TAB file of the Workflow Server or
2) do I need to "combine" the .TAB files of the Worfklow and WAS box into one, then redo the Web Client config referencing the combined .TAB file?
Also, Wofkflow is up and running properly.
Thanks in advance.

Ok I assume your not using a client concentrator setup.
All you should have to do is replace the existing MQWFCHL.TAB file on the WAS server with the new AIX MQSeries Workflow MQWFCHL.TAB file. You shouldn't need to redo the configuration unless your connecton names are not connect. (FMC, FMCQM, FMCGRP)
If it makes you feel better to recreate the configuration setup using FMCZUTIL it should be a easy task.
NOTE: If you do not have a client concentrator configuration setup on the WAS box you are forced to use either JNDI or Loc_Locator using the MQSeries client side bindings. Yes, this wil work but you will run out of client connections on the Workflow server if used heavly. _________________ Dave Krier
