Hi everyone.

What an awesome site for a newbie like. My question is this : How do I debug a CICS program that has been triggered by MQSeries ? Because no screens are involved with this type of triggered CICS application, I cannot use CEDF as my terminal never gets control.

Thanks
Deon

Hi,
One way is to use a debugger like Xpediter (from Compuware) or a similar tool. Well I know that this is expensive.

Anothere way arround is turn off triggering in MQSeries and start the CICS transaction by hand after enabling CEDF, then you are able to "trace" using CEDF I've used it for some customers.

NB: The application program must be able to decide which queue to use, and your user must ofcause have the correct auth. in SAF.

We have Xpediter. How do I debug the session when the triggered process triggers a CICS transaction. The transaction is not going to run on my terminal and no screens are involved.

Well Well I'm very happy I'm teaching Xpediter myself.

If I remeber right under menu 1.4 and 1.6 you can specify which TERMID you want to TRAP/ABEND (Xpediter terms).

Default you have one line with only our TERMID, you modify this line and changes the termid to **** and add one more line with 'NONE' in TERMID.
You have to do it under both menu 1.4 and 1.6!
I think it might be a god idea filter on TRANSID, so you only get your own abends... from the CICS.

I den't have to tell you to start Xpediter on the CICS where transaction is executed if you are using an MRO environment. You can see it in the transaction definition in the CSD.

I hope it might help you.
