When we say that a broker does transformation of XML data format does is mean that the data represented in XML format is converted into data that the receiving point can understand?. From example, I intend to transfer data from Point A(Windows) to Point B(Hogan). So for Hogan to understand data comming from Windows it must be transformed. Is this what it means by transformation of XML data format?.

Looking at transformation you have basically 3 types
  1. data mapping
  2. content protocol=> xml to cobol copy book, to comma delimited etc...
  3. transport protocol= soap over http to soap over JMS to mq etc...

Of course you will have to add on top any encryption decryption protocols

Enjoy

So data mapping in the context of transformation would mean changing the structure (attribute name and type) or data (value) of a message that is acceptable to the target system. So to achieve this a message comming from point A will be broken down then process then combine back into a message and then routed to the destination. Is this correct?.
