Hi,
is there a way to do MQ Failover without using DRBD?
My Szenario:
Code: |
SRV 1 SRV2
QM1 QM4
QM2 QM5
QM3 QM6
if SRV1 fails QM1-3 start on SRV2 (ip failover with Heartbeat)
|
i tried it with DRBD but got many Problems with that.
thanks!
regards

how about using clustering? And then 2 more servers for failover. U usually do not require a fail over mechanism if you have 2 servers clustered. _________________ *forgetting everything * |

sort of.. cause we had 2 clustered servers and 2 disaster recovery servers (clustered).. we were not able to get the HACMP software working, so we managed with the clustering it self.. Only some batch jobs got affected when a Qmgrs failed.. that wasn't an issue cause we used to put the blame on the network guys .. _________________ *forgetting everything * |

You are correct, MQ clustering is supported for load balancing, not high availability. With that said, a happy but unintended benefit of clustering can be business continuity, just depending on what node of the cluster happens to fail.
You are familiar with this support pac? http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg24011869&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en It does not mention DRDB as a possible HA solution, and I don't see how it would work in the traditional sense (unless you rigged DRDB to use shared storage). But I am not an HA expert by any means, perhaps wiser voices will be heard. |
