Hello,
We're trying to build a portal that'll display status information for MQ objects like queues and queue managers for each application connecting to MQ so that the application admin can monitor things like message volume, channel status etc. for MQ resources used by their application.
We're trying to figure out what technology would be best to implement this in, mod_Perl or Struts Java. The main portal with which this portal would be integrated is written in mod_Perl but we want to assess the pros and cons of both mod_Perl and Java before deciding on the technology.
I wanted to get an opinion from all you experienced MQ people as to what would you have done? From MQ's perspective, which is better, if at all? And the pros and cons of each.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You're trying to reinvent the world. Get a decent monitoring application and you should have this information out of the box.

Unfortunately, that option is not available. There are constraints and requirements around this that has led to the decision of build (vs. buy). Now the question is, what would be the best way to build?
I'm new to MQ and hence would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks,

Honestly I am quite surprised that you guys came to that conclusion. The learning curve will be quite steep. If you are going the java path check out support pack MS0B.

Are there any open source monitoring applications available? It may help to take a look...
Thanks,
