I need to alter a set of ALIAS queues in Mainframe. Can you please let me know if there is any option to use FORCE or MODE(FORCE) for altering the ALIAS queues forcefully in Mainframe?

Thanks
Amit

You can alter queue attributes at any time; and your changes will take effect immediately - and gracefully - no force is required.

What happens when you try?

While we are altering the ALIAS queues, if at that particular time any object handle is open to that queue (i.e. if any application is putting messages on that queue) then we cannot alter the target queue of that particular ALIAS queue. We will be getting 'object in use' error.

So we need to alter the ALIAS queues forcefully for the cdhanges to get effected. Please let me know if the FORCE option is available/valid in Mainframe.

If this is a valid option then can you please let me know the usage of this FORCE option (if possible with an example) for altering the target queue of an ALIAS queue.

Thanks,
Amit

From the WMQ Script Command reference manual:

ALTER QALIAS(q-name) FORCE ...
