Hi all
I have a query reg MQSeries perfomance monitoring.
IBM supplies a support pac which will extract accounting and statistic data on MQSeries perfomance from SMF record 116 & 115 respectively.
I want to know whether there are any other products in the market which will do the same or even give more details on mq perfomance. If Yes, can anyone tell me where we can get the details of the such products or supports pacs.
More over supp pac from IBM gives details from from the data written to SMF records. This not on a real time basis.
Can any one tell me the feasiblity of perfomace monitoring on real time. What I mean to say is that..is there any possibilty of tapping data from SMF memory buffers before data is written to smf records. For this we need to access at control block level.
Is this feasible. If feasible, I what respects the data obtained will be superior to the data extracted from supp pac supplied by IBM. For example the IBM supp pac does not give details at the cics transactions level. Will this give?
Can any tell me the method to approach for real time monitoring?

In term of performance collection on OS/390, have a look at Mainview for MQ Series from BMC, Omegamon from Candle, CA-Jars from CA. I have also heard about MXG (from Merrill I think).
In term of on-line monitoring, you have many more options available. First with the same vendors as above (Omegamon DE/XE of Candle, Patrol for MQ from BMC), but also IBM Tivoli, QPasa, Landmark...

| Hello, can you tell what the support pac is and which release it applies to? We are currently V2.1 I am interested in performance reporting for MQSeries on OS/390. Thanx much! |
