Sure this has been asked before, did a search and couldn't find it.
I have seen on Intel Linux and now z/Linux, when you display the processes for runmqlsr, it lists multiple processes for a single listener. Create another listener on different port, you get 5 processes. Don't have a AIX box handy, but seemed like it was one process per listener port. Why does Linux create mulitple processes for a listener?

Modern listeners can be multi-threaded, if the box is using the new listener technology. The AIX box you saw may have had an older version.

More likely, it is the version of "ps" on Linux that reports threads as proceses.

Fairly common in some kernels.

Your Linux server is probably displaying every thread as a seperate line entry. Double check your output again. Do all those "processes" have the same PID?
