I am trying to send a message from WebSphere MQ (Windows) to an AS400 (iSeries) and a Unix (pSeries). All payload data and most message header descriptor fields are received OK, but the Correlation ID and Message ID fields are in their original ASCII format and cannot be interpreted by either of the receiving hosts. When I direct the message to a local queue on the Windows message sending machine, both these fields are correctly displayed. Is there some trick to getting the receiving machine to see this data correctly?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please re-read the WMQ Programming Reference manual as Message Id, Correlation Id and Group Id are Byte fields and not String fields. Hence, Byte fields, as per the manual, are not converted between platforms.

Furthermore these fields follow the "anonymous identifier" pattern and should be compared but never interpreted...
Trying to put logic into it is going for an anti-pattern. You should review your design about right now...

Thanks Roger, that's what I had understood but needed confirmation. |
