Hi,

On z/OS v5.3.1 Queue Managers, is there a way to find the current storage allocated and used?

Regards.,

DASD? Core? Queue size? Page size? Buffer pool size?

Use the MQ ISPF interface, display the SYSTEM object and select option 2 (page set usage).

You get a display something like this

Quote:
CSQI010I !XXXX Page set usage ...
Page Buffer Total Unused Persistent Nonpersistent Expansion
set pool pages pages data pages data pages count
_ 0 0 154789 140333 14452 4 USER 0
_ 1 1 2158 2158 0 0 USER 0
_ 2 2 723554 603855 119667 32 USER 0
_ 3 3 272142 272142 0 0 USER 0
End of page set report
CSQP001I !XXXX Buffer pool 0 has 1000 buffers
CSQP001I !XXXX Buffer pool 1 has 20000 buffers
CSQP001I !XXXX Buffer pool 2 has 50000 buffers
CSQP001I !XXXX Buffer pool 3 has 20000 buffers
CSQI024I !XXXX CSQIDUSE Restart RBA for system as
configured=003B6F0CB1F3
CSQ9022I !XXXX CSQIDUSE ' DISPLAY USAGE' NORMAL COMPLETION
******** End of list ********

I can't offer any specific solution to your curiosity. v5.3.1 wasn't very chatty; v6 sends lots of this kind of information to syslog.

I'd suggest using one of your performance tools, like Omegamon, Patrol, RMF.

What's your concern about virtual storage utilization? Are you having a problem? What are the symptoms? What version of z/OS?

First rule of IT - be specific!

Use SDSF to look at CPU, EXCP and Virtual Storage usage of the currently running MQ started tasks.
