Hi

I am working on Unix server with MQ v6 installed on it. There are times when lot of FDC files get generated and then we have to manually delete the old ones.

Is there any command which can do the deletion of old files like the command for linear logging.

Please let me know

You should never delete FDC files until you've eliminated the cause of them.

You should never delete FDC files automatically.

Any half-way competent Unix admin can script something that will automatically delete FDC files for you, leaving you in a position of never knowing why your queue manager broke.

Hi jeff

i am talking of deleting the files which are way old like maybe files which are 2-3 months old and by that time the problem for which FDC is created is already taken care of.

... Any half-way competent Unix admin can do this for you.

Otherwise run the following command
Code:
man find

The "command" for deleting linear logs is a) a SupportPack, b) a Unix Script.

There isn't a Support Pack for cleaning up old FDCs, because you never know when they're really "old".

What the replies to your post suggest is that FDC files represent WMQ internal code errors/problems/issues that have occured.

When you find an FDC file, you, or someone, need need to persue with IBM the cause and resolution; then you can delete the FDC file.

If you are running low on disk space, you have another problem not related to WMQ.

You should be reading the WMQ System Administration manual to get an understanding of how to manage the WMQ environment.
