Hello,

I have a strange question for you.

We have a scenario where a clustered Windowsserver with a couple of queuemanagers and a WMB had lots of strange errors after we tested to telnet one of the queuemanagers.

telnet queuemanager:port (from a windows box)

The logs tells us about our connection to the server and we see the "Incorrect data format received from host...etc" message, which is fine, but some minutes afterwards all kinds of strange business starts to occur in MQ, and even the Broker, DB2 etc and it also looks like Windows starts to get problems with virtual memory and all hell breaks loose.. all queuemanagers goes offline on the server etc..
(long horrible story short: we had to reboot the whole cluster, and now it looks like it just..*might* be related to us just telnetting into the server..)

(seems extremely unlikely I think, but anyway..)

So, do anyone have any similar experiances, or would you say that it is "safe" to telnet a (windows)queuemanager on its listening port or can it cause problems?

Thanks in Advance

I've never heard of this. Are there any *.FDC files that might shed some light?

Are you low on diskspace, such that throwing a new FDC from the telnet will cause the filesystem to be full?

When someone tried to access our listener's port, e.g. telnet, MQ created an FDC with PROBEID C0052000, but other than that, it still ran just fine. If you're behind on maintenance, it could be that. If not, open a PMR.

We checked more ofcourse, and this cant have been because of the telnet session, the windows team are still looking into the problem and believes there was something strange going on with Windows virtual memory on the cluster well before my telnet session into the server, and there was some fault found in the clusteradmin aswell I think, so I guess it was just a coincidence that the time when the problems started was close to the telnet session into the queuemanager.

OK, thanks for the replys people!
