I have followed the instructions for the EmailOutputNode to set up an SMTP Alias.

1) mqsicreateconfigurableservice BROKER -c SMTP -o SMTP_Alias

Works OK

2) mqsichangeproperties BROKER -c SMTP -o SMTP_Alias -n SMTPServer -v smtp.hursley.ibm.com:25 fails with

BIP8984W: Configurable service object name 'SMTP : SMTP_Alias : SMTPServer' was not found.

The user has tried to delete or modify a configurable service object name that does not exist.

I've restarted broker following step 1) but still get the same problem.

Anybody had success with this ?

Broker v6101 on Solaris

The documentation appears to be at odds with what is actually produced.

I can reproduce what you're seeing on Windows...

When I follow the mqsicreateconfigurableservice with
mqsireportproperties brokerName -c AllTypes -o AllReportableEntityNames -r

Then I see that the newly created service has two properties - "securityIdentity" and "serverName".

When I use those names as the -n parameter on mqsichangeproperties...
The mqsichangeproperties succeed.

I don't have an SMTP server I can test against, and I sincerely hope that smtp.hursley.ibm.com doesn't actually *work*... So I can't guarantee that these changes will allow you to use the EmailOutput node with a configurable alias like this.

There's a feedback link on the page in the InfoCenter. It would be helpful if you were to use that to report that the documentation seems to be wrong in this area.

Thanks Jeff.

I can now deliver E-Mails via EMailOutputNode using an SMTP alias.

Feedback made to IBM re documentation.
